POE (Polyolefin Elastomer)

Basic PropertiesPOE generally has a high octene mass fraction (greater than 20% when it becomes an elastomer), a low density, a narrow molecular weight distribution, and a certain degree of crystallinity. POE possesses a range of excellent physical and mechanical properties, such as high elasticity, high elongation, good impact strength, as well as excellent low-temperature resistance and processing rheology.

Main Applications

1. Automotive Industry: Used in sealing strips, shock-absorbing materials, and interior components due to its excellent weather resistance and low-temperature performance.

2. Wires and Cables: Used as insulation material for sheathing, offering excellent electrical insulation, ozone resistance, and fire resistance.

3. Plastic Toughening: Blended with plastics such as PP and PE, POE significantly improves the impact strength and toughness of the plastics.

4. Foam Materials: Used in combination with materials like EVA to create foams that are lighter, more resilient in compression, have a good feel, and possess uniform and fine cell structures.

5. Other Applications: POE is also widely used in household products, toys, mechanical tools, entertainment and sports goods, shoe soles, hot melt adhesives, sealing components, and more.

Production Technology and Major ManufacturersCurrently, the main production technologies for POE include:

· Dow Chemical's Insite Solution Polymerization Process

· ExxonMobil and Mitsui Chemical's Exxpol High-Pressure Polymerization Technology

Major manufacturers include:

· Dow Chemical

· ExxonMobil

· Mitsui Chemicals

· LG Chemicals

Among these, Dow's Engage series and ExxonMobil's Exact series POE products are highly recognized and influential in the market.
